A small working room does not use every allowance
Hue’s current guide lists 50 lights and 12 controls for Bridge, against 150-plus lights and 50-plus controls for Bridge Pro. Pro also permits a Wi-Fi connection to the router instead of requiring Ethernet. Those are concrete reasons for a larger or differently placed system; they do not make a working small game room incomplete.
Consolidation has an uneven transfer
The current migration guide supports bringing multiple Bridges into a Bridge Pro. That differs from early launch limitations, but it is not a promise that every established behaviour transfers unchanged. Content from the first/main Bridge and content from additional Bridges follow different rules. In particular, accessory behaviours and automations from additional Bridges require manual reconstruction.
The same guide excludes legacy SmartLink products and says Apple Home needs to be set up again. A home relying on an old lamp or a familiar automation should put that fact beside the larger device allowance before choosing to consolidate.
When Pro has a clear reason
Choose Pro when the documented capacity or connection option solves a real system need and the existing devices and transfer work fit its current guide. Keep Bridge when it already serves the room and no Pro-specific requirement matters. Migration is documented as one-way: it should be a considered system change, not a casual way to see whether a higher model number feels different.
