Begin with the system already on the wall

Nanoleaf Shapes Expansion Packs add panels to an existing Shapes setup. They require a Shapes controller and sufficient power; they do not replace a starter kit. Before choosing a pack, identify the controller and power supply you already own. A familiar Nanoleaf logo on an older component is not enough, because the official accessories guidance distinguishes product families and generations.

Count power separately from control

The documented US table lists a controller ceiling of five hundred panels, but a 42 W supply supports twenty-eight Triangles or twenty-one Hexagons in the listed single-shape arrangements. Those are different limits, not competing answers to one question. Use the correct shape-specific power information before treating spare controller capacity as permission to add panels. For a mixed-shape layout, obtain the corresponding configuration guidance rather than inventing a total from these two examples. The practical next purchase depends on the installed system, not just the desired pattern.
