Put the year in the request
Starter Kit 2023 is a specific Magic product with two sixty-card decks. It is not Foundations Starter Collection, and its digital contents should not be borrowed from another year’s starter kit. If Arena is part of the reason for buying, keep the full 2023 name in the request.
The official list has a regional qualification
Wizards’ product announcement lists two Arena code cards, available only in selected regions. Those words matter when choosing an imported copy. A general claim that a Magic box comes with online cards is less useful than identifying the actual regional package and what it contains.
Paper completeness leaves one question open
An opened kit might contain both paper decks while its codes have already been redeemed. Alternatively, the physical package may belong to a region without the documented code cards. Ask about that part explicitly; photographs of the deck boxes do not settle it. No expiration date or unused-code guarantee for a particular copy has been verified here.
Use the documented redemption route
Wizards’ current support page gives the Wizards account website as a code-redemption route. It warns that expired, incorrect or already redeemed codes can fail, and that most codes have an account limit. This is guidance for using a code you are entitled to redeem, not permission to test a seller’s private code before agreeing to a purchase.
Decide what would still make the box worthwhile
If the paper decks themselves are the attraction, assess them on that basis. If the whole purpose is to acquire the digital decks, leave the purchase undecided until the regional contents and code condition are clear enough for you. Owning a pile of printed cards is not evidence that the same collection has appeared on an Arena account.
