Choose a cast for a personal notebook
Japanese Yokai Sticker Book, ISBN 9780804858274, offers a creature-led starting point. Tuttle lists 32 types with several depictions of each, including kappa, an animated umbrella and a haunted lantern. That suits a notebook whose pleasure is returning to a small cast: a different creature beside a reading note, or related figures appearing through a section. You are choosing recurring presences, rather than treating every decorated page as a separate poster.
Hokusai offers a different set of references
Hokusai Prints Sticker Book, ISBN 9780804858281, ranges across landscapes, nature studies, kabuki actors, samurai and supernatural subjects. The publisher names Mount Fuji views, waterfalls and The Great Wave among its artistic references. It is the more relevant starting point when a page is meant to borrow the mood of a print or a landscape, not revolve around identifying one creature. The presence of yokai in this book does not make it the same selection as the creature collection.
Let the page decide which book earns its place
For a journal that already has drawings and substantial handwriting, an occasional creature can become a small companion to the text. For a card or scrapbook organised around an art theme, a Hokusai subject can be the reason for the page. These are layout intentions, not measurements of the individual stickers: the book’s 6×8-inch format does not establish the outline of a chosen image. Pick the selection whose characters or subjects you will return to, then resolve the fit of the specific image you plan to use.
