ONE-TOUCH or ONE-TOUCH X: should the sleeve stay on the card?

The X is not just another finish. Its expanded cavity is explicitly described for a sleeved standard card, within a named sleeve-size boundary.

Keeping the sleeve gives X a specific reason

If the display plan is to leave a standard card inside its protective sleeve, ONE-TOUCH X 16401 is the more directly documented choice. Ultra PRO specifies an expanded cavity for a 2.5×3.5-inch card of 35pt thickness inside a sleeve, up to its Platinum Sleeve Size 15221. That is a concrete configuration, not a universal “fits sleeved cards” badge.

The standard 35PT UV ONE-TOUCH 81575 instead specifies standard cards up to 35pt. Its page does not offer the same explicit sleeve-size promise. That does not prove every possible thin sleeve is impossible; it means the X provides clearer published support for the named sleeved arrangement.

Thickness and the outer sleeve still matter

The 35pt specification does not mean any card plus any stack of sleeves will fit. A thicker card, a double-sleeved arrangement or a different outer sleeve needs its own supported dimensions. Do not use the magnetic lid to force an uncertain combination closed.

Both named holders use a magnetic closure and list UV-blocking additives. Those shared features do not erase the cavity difference, certify a card’s condition or promise permanent protection from fading. For a gift, learn the recipient’s actual card-and-sleeve arrangement before choosing the case. Choose X because the sleeve is meant to stay, not because an extra letter sounds like a higher grade of collecting.
