Separate selecting from adjusting
Starting a timer and changing a music level are different control problems. The first can be a named command; the second needs a value and a way to see what is changing. List a few real tasks from the intended session and separate those two kinds. This prevents a hardware comparison from becoming a contest in which the most complicated-looking surface wins. It also exposes whether there is a useful dial task at all.
Compare the exact physical arrangements
Elgato’s support table lists fifteen configurable LCD keys for Stream Deck MK.2. Stream Deck + has eight LCD keys, four dials and a touch strip. Plus therefore trades some visible keys for a different input arrangement; it is not merely the same fifteen-key model with bonus knobs. If fifteen named scenes or commands need to remain visible together, count that requirement before assuming dials make the smaller key grid an uncomplicated upgrade.
A dial still needs a supported destination
The Plus page documents turning controls for incremental settings and pushing to cycle dial actions, with information on the touch strip. That is relevant to a supported level or image parameter. It does not mean every application exposes every slider to the hardware. Check the particular plugin or shortcut route and whether its display corresponds to the intended parameter. Four physical dials without the needed integration do not solve a software control problem.
Keep feedback tied to the real application
Use a test document or a noncritical audio session when arranging the first controls. Turn one mapped parameter and observe the application itself. If the hardware shows a requested change but the app has focus elsewhere, stop and resolve that relationship before making the layout routine. This is especially useful when one dial cycles between several actions: the current assignment must be clear before turning it. A polished icon is not a substitute for knowing which setting is active.
Choose the constraint that actually costs attention
Investigate Plus when repeated continuous adjustments have documented integration and the dial assignment can remain legible. Keep MK.2 in the comparison when visible named commands are the greater need. Both use the Stream Deck desktop application; choosing one does not eliminate setup. Decide from one actual session with a short command list and one adjustment example. That gives the device a defensible role without promising faster editing, better audio or professional results from its shape.
