Two specific slots can be enough
If one camera supplies CFexpress Type B and another supplies SDXC, PG05.5 can consolidate those formats into one reader. That is a more convincing reason to choose it than the general appeal of extra slots. A creator using only SD cards may gain little from the unused Type B opening.
ProGrade explicitly excludes XQD. Do not repurpose an existing XQD collection for this purchase simply because its cards resemble another format. The product is named for CFexpress Type B and SD, not for every card used by a large camera.
The model number matters more than a USB-C plug
PG05.5 uses USB 3.2 Gen 2. The manufacturer lists up to 10 Gb/s, expressed as 1.25 GB/s, as its interface transfer figure. A USB-C connection does not turn this model into ProGrade’s separate USB4 reader. Choosing it for a USB4-only performance target would start with the wrong device.
Both A-to-C and C-to-C cables are documented, making it adaptable to the two connector shapes without buying a reader for each. The host still needs the relevant interface capability for the advertised ceiling; an included cable is not a new port capability.
A practical place on the desk
The magnetic base and supplied mounting plate give it a defined place beside the editing computer instead of another loose adapter. Decide whether that arrangement suits the actual work surface before applying an adhesive plate.
The quick-start guide’s activity LED is useful when finishing a transfer: it distinguishes active reading/writing from an idle state, and the guide says not to remove media while the LED is flashing. For this product, the attractive purchase is a simpler two-format handoff with a known place and connection—not an unqualified speed upgrade.
