Three cartridge generations are a concrete reason to choose Pocket
If Game Boy Advance cartridges are part of the collection you want to revisit, Analogue Pocket provides an explicit compatibility statement alongside Game Boy and Game Boy Color. That is a useful positive reason to put it first on the shortlist. Do not silently extend the transparent Chromatic’s stated GB/GBC list to cover the same plan just because the devices share a familiar shape.
Pocket also documents adapters for other named cartridge systems, including Game Gear and Atari Lynx. Those are separate purchases, not extra slots supplied by the basic handheld. Choose that route when you actually want to use those cartridges. A broader list has little practical value when the games you care about already belong to one supported family.
The display choice is more interesting than a resolution contest
Pocket lists a 3.5-inch 1600-by-1440 LCD and modes designed to recreate older display characteristics. The current transparent Chromatic lists a 2.56-inch 160-by-144 backlit LCD. A reader drawn to a larger high-resolution presentation has a different reason to choose from someone attracted to the smaller display’s original-sized pixel structure.
Keep the variant attached to that comparison. The transparent Chromatic page specifies an ABS shell and Gorilla Glass, together with its Tetris cartridge bundle. Specifications associated with a different metal or sapphire Chromatic version are not an upgrade you can assume inside this transparent one. Its appearance is a version choice, not permission to combine whichever specifications look most attractive across the range.
Choose how the handheld will join an ordinary day
Pocket documents a built-in rechargeable battery and USB-C charging. The transparent Chromatic package lists three AA batteries and support for an optional rechargeable Power Core. Someone who deliberately wants replaceable AA power can have a concrete preference for that arrangement; someone planning routine USB charging may prefer Pocket’s built-in approach. Neither description measures how long your own session will last.
Choose Pocket around its documented cartridge breadth or display approach. Choose the exact transparent Chromatic when its stated GB/GBC activity, smaller display and power arrangement are the things wanted. Keep the selected games and variant in view. The satisfying purchase is a particular way to return to those cartridges, not an obligation to buy the device with the longest list of systems.
