A Piranha Plant in GameChat: choose the character and the camera position

HORI’s NSX-001U makes the camera itself a Mario object. Its three arrangements and 640 × 480 specification define the practical choice.

A Piranha Plant in GameChat: choose the character and the camera position
SANJIESAN original concept scene, not a product photograph.

The face of the device is part of the pleasure

A camera can be a nearly invisible tool, or something you enjoy seeing beside the screen. HORI’s Piranha Plant Camera gives that second wish a very specific form. The flexible stem lets the character’s head become the camera position, while closing the mouth covers the lens. It makes sense for a Switch 2 owner who wants the character to remain part of the setup between conversations.

Three arrangements do not mean one universal mount

HORI shows the camera standing in its pipe base, clipped to a television, or detached and connected directly to the top of Switch 2. Those are different arrangements of the camera unit. The manual says the base itself does not mount directly on the console, so the complete potted plant should not be imagined balancing there.

When mounting to a TV, the manual asks for the camera centred above the base, and excludes unstable TV edges. These instructions make the location part of the purchase decision: the pose you like in a product image still needs a supported physical position in the place you actually use GameChat.

Accept the image specification deliberately

The official specification is 640 × 480 at 30 frames per second, with an 85-degree field of view. Choose that stated camera proposition alongside the character design, rather than supplying an imagined high-resolution upgrade because the product is new or visually elaborate. Covering the lens also should not be confused with a claim about muting the console’s microphone.

Leave room for the rest of the setup

The manual warns against twisting the arm or obstructing console ventilation. It also explains the included right-angle audio adapter in relation to headphone-plug interference near the plant and leaves. These small details matter because a character accessory occupies real space.

If the stand, clip or detached configuration fits your setup, the plant can have a reason to be there beyond one photo. If your primary need is a different capture specification, a cute form does not remove that requirement. Pick NSX-001U when its documented camera role and its character presence are both welcome.
