M30 for Xbox or M30 Bluetooth: the six-button shape is only the beginning

Choose the exact platform route, then decide whether Xbox-specific profiles and audio controls or the Bluetooth model’s wireless arrangement serve the game.

The familiar face hides different controls

The M30 family appeals to players who want six front buttons. The Xbox wired model adds bumpers and triggers, a layout switch, three profiles and a microphone-mute control. It also has a 3.5 mm CTIA audio jack. Those are useful reasons to select that exact variant; they are not properties to assume whenever a retailer writes “M30”.

An Xbox input mode is not an Xbox console

For Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, the named Wired Controller for Xbox has the direct documented route. Its connection is USB. The Bluetooth model’s FAQ says it does not support those consoles. Confusingly, the same FAQ calls one PC input mode “Xbox360 mode”. That label describes how the pad presents its input to a computer; it does not reverse the console restriction.

For Switch, wireless comes with a specific feature set

The Bluetooth product lists both Bluetooth and wired USB. Its current technical table names Switch on system version 3.0.0 or later and separately Switch 2 on version 20.1.1 or later. It also explicitly lacks vibration, motion sensing, NFC and console wake. A six-button arrangement can be attractive for the intended game, while still being the wrong choice for another game that depends on one of those functions. A console name alone does not settle that second question.

Profiles or direct mapping?

The wired Xbox product lists Ultimate Software X and three switchable profiles. The Bluetooth FAQ instead documents button combinations for its D-pad and mapping changes. If a particular six-button layout is what you intend to keep, choose the host and configuration route together. Do not buy the Bluetooth edition expecting it to become the Xbox edition through a mode change, or buy the wired edition expecting the same wireless use.
