71439 gives the next build a reason

Adventures with Interactive LEGO Mario 71439 includes the interactive figure and a route from Start Pipe to Goal Pole. Actions along it trigger digital reactions and coin collection. The interesting decision is not simply whether you want a Mario figure: it is whether changing a course and seeing that figure respond sounds like the activity you want.

LEGO describes expansion and rebuilding as part of the play. That suits someone who wants to revisit the arrangement rather than preserve one finished scene unchanged. If your main interest is a single large Mario silhouette, the route and reactions may be less important than they first appear.

72037 compresses the race into a pose

Mario & Standard Kart 72037 has a different centre of attention: a large buildable Mario whose head and arms can be posed, and a kart displayed at dynamic racing angles on its stand. LEGO gives the model’s length as about 32 cm. Its appeal is in settling on an expressive view of the driver and vehicle.

That makes it worth considering when you want one substantial racing subject to look at. The stand and pose are not substitutes for a reconfigurable interactive course; they answer a different wish. Conversely, a reader who wants to keep changing challenges should not assume the larger Mario delivers the 71439 interaction system.

The next visit reveals which one fits

Imagine returning to it a week after the build. Would you move the course and try another sequence of reactions, or adjust Mario’s head, arms and racing angle before leaving the scene in place? That concrete contrast is more useful than choosing by a general “play” or “adult display” label.

Keep the set numbers in the conversation: 71439 and 72037. A different Mario Kart playset or another compatible interactive figure is a separate product decision, not evidence that every brick-built Mario can perform the same role.
