The disappearing version is the point
Most character objects ask for a place to stay. Takarajimasha’s Pikmin4 ice-mould and cup set proposes something less permanent: make a small character, put it in the cup and let the occasion end. Its appeal can be the chance to make it again, rather than preserving a single finished figure.
The publisher describes a silicone mould and a cup, with the character form appearing above the drink. That is a particular home activity, not evidence of a tested freezing time or a result every kitchen will reproduce identically.
The picture does not settle the material
There is a useful detail in the publisher’s June2024 announcement: the pictured Ice Pikmin is made of gummy candy. The product description permits the mould to be used for sweets as well as ice. A very tidy promotional shape should therefore not be treated as a photograph proving how an ordinary ice version will emerge.
This does not make the idea less charming. It makes the choice clearer: do you want the occasion of making a character, with the result depending on what you make, or do you want a finished collectible that stays unchanged?
A new box does not necessarily mean a new object
The same announcement explains the bookstore Special Book republication: distribution and packaging differ, while the included items and booklet are the same as the earlier edition. For a collector choosing this exact release, that distinguishes a packaging preference from an assumed redesigned mould.
Choosing the set can simply mean wanting another occasion to make the character. The temporary result belongs to the occasion, while the object you keep gives you a reason to return to the activity.
