The Firefly is the lit object
Firefly V2 Pro makes the whole mat part of the light display. Razer explicitly calls it a hard mat, with edge-to-edge backlighting and fifteen individually customisable zones. Choose it when that lit surface is something you want to see and use, rather than expecting any RGB label to mean the same object.
Its detachable USB-C cable and USB 2.0 pass-through are additional physical details. They do not turn the mat into a wireless charger or establish a measured advantage for the mouse.
The Extended is a cloth area
Goliathus Chroma Extended provides a micro-textured cloth surface with a documented 920×294 mm footprint. Its lighting runs around the edge rather than illuminating the whole hard surface. If the intention is one broad cloth area under a keyboard-and-mouse arrangement, that is the more directly relevant form.
Keep Extended separate from the much larger 3XL. Measure the area available on the desk, including where the keyboard and mouse actually sit. “More coverage” only helps when that is the arrangement you want.
Neither needs a promise of better aim
For someone who already knows they prefer cloth, full-surface RGB is a weak reason to switch material. For someone specifically wanting a hard, luminous object, a larger cloth rectangle is not a substitute just because it shares Chroma branding. Choose the surface and footprint first; then decide whether its light is worth adding to the desk.
