A movable display has a fixed starting point
The attractive part of the classic LX is a screen that can change position without a different stand each time. Ergotron lists up to 33 cm of height adjustment, subject to the display and mounting conditions. For screens above 9.1 kg, it warns that the range may shrink by as much as 11 cm; greater screen depth can also affect capacity. The purchase therefore starts at the actual screen and desk attachment, rather than an unconditional movement figure.
The black kit has a useful combination
Ergotron's current listing identifies matte-black 45-241-224 as a two-piece-clamp version with a grommet mount in the package. For a compatible desk where either an edge clamp or an existing suitable grommet location is being considered, having those documented options is useful. A finish name alone does not establish identical contents across other LX variants.
The manufacturer's mount note also says arms sold with two-piece clamps cannot be retrofitted with its Low-Profile Clamp accessories. That is the consequential limit: do not buy this particular kit as the first stage of a low-profile-clamp conversion. The older LX specification sheet is helpful for identifying the classic package, but current variant notes should govern that accessory decision.
Keep it for the arrangement you can use now
This version makes sense when its included mounting choices suit the actual desk and regular screen movement is the benefit you want. If the essential feature is a low-profile attachment, select that mount family at the outset. A useful arm is one whose base and movement both work in the intended setup, rather than one whose future conversion has been assumed.
