The wall belongs in the plan
A narrow cabinet can look self-contained in a photograph. BLÅLIDEN 005.205.19 is not a freestanding-room planning exercise: the official assembly instructions require permanent wall attachment with fastening appropriate to the wall. Choose the intended wall and resolve that requirement before using its compact outline as a reason to select it. A spot that looks attractive but cannot support the specified installation is still an unresolved location.
Draw the cabinet, not an imagined interior
IKEA's 2026-11-01 reading gives external dimensions of 13¾ inches wide and 59½ inches high. Mark those outside dimensions on the room plan and keep shelf-clearance questions separate; outside width does not prove that a particular diorama fits inside. The same dated research identifies RUDSTA 504.501.37 as a wider, lower cabinet with a metal back usable with magnets. That is a different display proposition. Pick BLÅLIDEN when its documented installation and vertical outline suit the chosen location, then check the actual shelf requirements of your collection.
