Passport Photo 2 or Video 2? Open the case before choosing the name

The useful difference is the target layout: photographic enhancement patches versus a hybrid set with video-specific references.

The video model still has a photo target

A creator photographing a costume and filming its details does not necessarily need two Passport cases. Calibrite’s Video 2 includes the Classic 24-patch target as well as a white-balance target. The word “Video” does not remove the still-photo reference. That makes it the more relevant starting candidate when the missing task is a video-scopes reference alongside occasional photographs.

What changes inside

Photo 2 pairs its Classic and white-balance targets with a gray-balance target and Creative Enhancement patches. Those enhancement patches provide warming and cooling choices and highlight/shadow references. They have a clear purpose for a photographer making repeatable variations of a portrait treatment.

Video 2 instead provides a video colour target and a three-step grayscale target. The former has groups for chromatic colours, skin tones and gray/highlight/shadow references; the latter includes a 40 IRE gray and high-gloss black. These are specific reference designs for a video workflow, rather than a claim that a different case produces better-looking footage automatically.

Choose for the panel you will actually use

For a still-photo kit already organised around Photo 2’s enhancement patches, keeping that arrangement can be more useful than changing products because “hybrid” sounds broader. For a new kit expected to work with video scopes and photographs, Video 2’s retained Classic target is the detail worth noticing.

Put the intended chart beside the reference tools in the editing application before deciding. The two products have similarly compact 125 × 90 mm cases, so this choice is principally about the targets inside. A large framing distance that makes a small chart unreadable is a separate reason to consider a larger target, rather than a reason to swap one pocket case for the other.
