The correction can decide the recorder
A software tutorial may need a pointer pause shortened or a path made clearer after recording. TechSmith describes cursor metadata and later path changes in Camtasia Editor. Its support article says Camtasia Online cannot record or edit that cursor data, even though a default Windows cursor may appear in the video. A visible pointer alone therefore does not establish the editing capability.
Choose Editor for the specific metadata job
Editor’s separate screen, camera and audio tracks can also support independent changes, but the cursor requirement is the decisive distinction in this case. If it is essential to change the recorded pointer later, use the documented Editor recording route rather than assuming the same product family name makes the browser recorder equivalent.
For a quick recording whose pointer does not need independent revision, that particular Editor feature may not justify the extra workflow. A cursor can be a perfectly adequate part of a finished picture when no later path change is required.
Keep the recording, not only the project pointer
TechSmith identifies TREC as the recording and TSCPROJ as the editing project. The project references its media; the support guide recommends a standalone project to keep those sources bundled. This matters when the next editor is supposed to make the cursor correction.
The useful purchase is a recording/editing route that preserves the information needed for the actual revision. Choosing an effects-rich editor after only keeping a flattened viewing copy cannot retroactively establish the original cursor metadata. Decide what needs to remain editable before the tutorial is captured.
