Is the gift a figure or a game feature?
Link (Tears of the Kingdom) amiibo can be appreciated as a character object, but a promised game feature needs a more precise gift plan. Nintendo’s FAQ requires a compatible figure, game and system. The figure is not a copy of Tears of the Kingdom, and an amiibo-compatible game does not make every figure behave identically. Ask which exact title and edition the recipient already plays before making the digital effect part of the gift.
Use this Link’s own compatibility entry
Nintendo’s exact Link entry describes helpful materials, weapons and paraglider fabric in Tears of the Kingdom, while other titles list different benefits. The same page distinguishes read-only and read/write uses. A photograph of an amiibo beside a dramatic reward therefore cannot promise the identical result in another game. Keep the wanted effect attached to the exact game entry rather than the character name alone.
The reward is not a fixed unboxing result
The Tears of the Kingdom support article says scanning becomes available after the relevant in-game ability is unlocked. It also warns that a unique reward may require more than one scan. Do not promise a particular fabric as something the recipient will receive on the first tap at the party. If that one reward is the entire reason for the purchase, this uncertainty belongs in the decision before the gift is chosen.
Check the edition when comparing demonstrations
Nintendo’s current instructions describe a daily scanning rule and a separate Switch 2 Edition feature: ZELDA NOTES can track scans and award a bonus use after five scans of the same compatible figure. That does not make an older Switch demonstration wrong; it makes the edition relevant. Read the instructions for the recipient’s version instead of treating a newer demonstration’s extra use as a promise for all copies.
Keep stored fighter data out of casual experiments
The general FAQ says an amiibo stores data for one read/write game at a time; read-only uses are different. Do not erase someone’s saved fighter data merely to test a gift idea.
A figure-only gift can stand on its own
A physical-character gift can be chosen because the recipient likes this Link, without promising an unlock. For someone choosing it specifically for a game, resolve the exact entry first. Explain the game and edition you verified, and leave any account or saved-data management action to the owner.
