One design, more than one object
The Royal Mint’s 2023 R2-D2 and C-3PO announcement describes both 50p and ounce ranges. A listing that says Star Wars, or even names the correct two characters, has therefore not finished identifying the coin. Choosing a holder from the character picture alone can start with the wrong physical object.
Where the 27.3 mm reference belongs
The Mint’s standard current 50p reference gives a 27.3 mm diameter. LIGHTHOUSE labels GRIPS item 364948 for 50 pence at 27.3 mm, making it a specific holder to investigate for that format. It does not make the holder a fit for the collection’s ounce products, or certify that an existing presentation capsule can be placed inside it. Keep the exact coin edition and existing packaging with the decision.
The ordinary 50p specification also lists its base-metal composition. Do not carry that across to a silver or gold edition just because the design is familiar. A collection title is a useful starting interest; denomination, metal and the particular edition establish which object is being discussed.
The finish can be part of the attraction
The announcement describes a lenticular feature, but expressly excludes the quarter-ounce gold version, which uses a static image. If the changing visual effect is what draws you to this design, that exception matters before any storage accessory is considered. Choose the actual edition for the detail you want to see; then resolve a holder for that object. A conveniently named 50p capsule should not quietly choose the coin on your behalf.
