Keep both numbers on the shopping note
Sakura Pigma Micron 005 is listed by Royal Talens as 0.20 mm. Micron 05 is listed as 0.45 mm. The zeros belong to a size code; they are not an instruction to read the first pen as 0.005 mm or the second as 0.05 mm. Dropping one zero from a note can therefore change the pen you end up considering.
For the black variants, the records also separate article XSDK00549 from XSDK0549. You do not have to memorise those codes, but retaining the complete name, colour and stated width gives an order or a replacement request something more precise than “the fine black Micron”.
Choose a role for the line
The nominal widths suggest a useful distinction to try: a finer line for small internal detail and a broader one for a stronger contour or heading. They do not establish the exact mark on every sheet. Paper surface, the way the pen is used and the size of the finished drawing still matter when deciding which line belongs where.
Sakura’s own conditions refer to archival quality on non-coated paper and bleed-through resistance on most papers, not every possible surface. Use a small sample of the intended paper before committing a finished illustration. That sample is about your drawing material, rather than proving that one model label is universally better.
Do not lose the colour while checking the width
The range does not offer every colour in every point size. If you are replacing a specific pen, keep its colour with the full 005 or 05 label. If you are choosing a pair for a new drawing, pick the two line roles first. A larger packet is not automatically a more useful starting point than the sizes you can actually explain.
