A second player needs a complete role
Before choosing a compact second controller, name the shared game, the host system and the actions the second player must perform. A convenient object in the travel bag is useful only if that player can participate. Ask whether the game accepts the intended controller arrangement and how many inputs it needs. Do not make the second person's controls an afterthought simply because the main player already has a full-size device they like.
Micro has a deliberately small documented feature set
8BitDo describes Micro as a compact sixteen-button controller and highlights two-dimensional games. Its footnote excludes vibration, motion sensing, NFC, an infrared camera and console wake. These limits can be acceptable for a chosen task, but they should enter the decision before the gift. A game or activity requiring one of those functions needs a different investigation. Small size alone cannot establish that a second player receives the same input capabilities as the first.
Lite 2 adds a different control arrangement
The Lite 2 page explicitly describes joysticks and shaped trigger buttons, and lists vibration and motion control, with motion scoped to Switch. Those documented differences matter more than treating both products as interchangeable small Bluetooth pads. Choose the controls your game needs. Neither the specification list nor a compact shape is a personal hand-fit test; ask whether the recipient wants this format and where they intend to use it.
Read computer compatibility by mode
Micro's page lists Windows and Apple systems under Keyboard mode only. Lite 2 separately lists supported Apple operating-system versions. Do not turn either statement into universal gamepad compatibility on every computer. The current pages also specify system versions for Switch 2 use. Keep the exact host, operating-system version and intended mode together. A successful Bluetooth pairing does not answer whether a game's second-player setup receives the controls you expected.
Plan the first shared session
If Micro's documented controls meet the chosen game and host, its smaller format can remain a candidate. If the task needs Lite 2's particular input arrangement, investigate that model instead. Where either requirement is unclear, confirm it before presenting the gift as ready for two people. Include the exact model and setup reference, and agree who will prepare the controllers. The gift is an invitation to play together, with both players able to participate, rather than an extra object bought merely because it fits in a pocket.
